Help Harry is a family fund set up by Gareth and Rachel Halpin for their son, Harry, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Harry is nearly four years old. He was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in September 2013, following concerns about his balance and mobility. Mum Rachel said:
Our whole world was turned upside down when we received the devastating news that Harry had Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Harry is like any other child of his age and is completely unaware of his condition. He is a happy, loving little boy who loves playing with his little sister Grace. He also loves swimming, playing with his Batman Lego, making cakes and being read a story – especially his favourite which is Harry and the Dinosaurs”
His parents know, however, that in just a few years’ time, Harry’s symptoms will become more apparent and he will have some difficulties with his mobility and health.
Since setting up a family fund in 2014 the family, and their friends have done some amazing fundraising. By spring 2015 they had raised an amazing £1,500 with more fundraising events planned for the future.
“We just want what every parent wants for their children; to live a happy, healthy life and to achieve their goals, whatever they may be. We remain positive that one of the many current clinical trials will have the results everyone affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy hopes for.”
