Harvey's Heroes take on Pedal, Paddle, Peak 2018

Pedal, Paddle, Peak is back for it's third year and it's shaping up to be a colossal event with 20 teams taking on the full days challenge in the stunning Lake District.

One of the first teams to sign up were Harvey's Heroes from Newcastle. The team is led by Adelle McFarlane who's nine year old son, Harvey, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

In her team is husband Eddie, Harvey's godfather Ian Avis and family friend Ian Dickinson. The team of four will be taking on the challenging course which includes a 30 mile bike ride, 2 mile canoe and climb up Helvellyn, England's second highest peak.

When asked about event, Adelle said;

We have chosen to do Pedal, Paddle, Peak because we are tired of doing running events and this was a good chance to do something different.

I'm scared of water and not keen on heights so not really looking forward to any of it! However, our main motivation is our son Harvey who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and we will do this for him.

The team have pledged to raise £2,000 for the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund and will be rallying around their businesses with sponsor forms and raising through JustGiving.

Good luck Harvey's Heroes!
