Sunday 8 October sees the start of the 2017/18 season of the Powerchair football league in Scotland, now known as the Muscular Dystrophy UK Scottish Powerchair Premiership. Six teams from across Scotland will be heading to Stirling Peak on Sunday with hopes of taking the title this season.
The action starts with reigning champions Tayside Dynamos taking on the Lothian Wolves at 11.30am. At the same time, a Clyde derby will see Clyde Alba taking on Clyde Caledonia.
Connor Colhoun, who plays for Glasgow Gladiators, is excited for the season to start.
“We’ve been training every Tuesdays and sometimes on Fridays during preseason. We’re hoping to beat a few teams and have a good chance of winning the title.”
Connor plays as a striker and three years ago he received funding from our Joseph Patrick Trust to contribute towards a new Powerchair Football chair.
“The chair has made a difference to me and helps me score lots of goals”
We will be following and updating progress on the league throughout the season. Good luck to all the teams and players for the season ahead.
