Thomas Robinson is just 9 years old and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
He won’t let his condition stand in the way of things though and this coming weekend, Saturday 20 May, Thomas will be taking on the Cheshire UK Kids Fun Duathlon in Nantwich, Cheshire.
The event consists of a 400 metre run, a 2k bike ride and then another run over a 1k distance.
This is a big challenge for Thomas but he is determined to do his best and complete the event.
I am going to try my very best to use my muscles to complete the course. I am lucky that I feel I can take part in this. I know some boys with poorly muscles that are the same age as me can’t walk as far, or maybe do some of the things I can do. That is another reason why I want to do this. All of the money I raise will be donated to the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund.
Naturally mum Karen and dad Neil are rightly very proud of Thomas and we at Muscular Dystrophy UK would also like to join them in saying well done and thank you to Thomas for what he is doing.
Good luck on Saturday Thomas and thank you from everyone at Muscular Dystrophy UK!
Thomas has already smashed the fundraising target that he set himself but if you would like to support Thomas you can help him to raise even more by sponsoring him on his Just Giving page here.
