APPG for Young Disabled People’s AGM and Steering Group

Published Date

As London Regional Ambassador for Trailblazers, I attended the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Young Disabled People’s AGM and Steering Group session in the Wilson Room at Portcullis House, Parliament  on 27th February. Trailblazers set up this APPG and help run the meetings.

We had a discussion into what plans we have for the group. The subjects focused on the issues that affect young disabled people and that prevent them from living fully independent lives – and how this needs to be improved.

The Annual General Meeting was held in the first part of the session.

The latter part included a discussion with representatives from the following charities and organisations:

  • Ourselves, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign‘s Trailblazers
  • Disability Rights UK
  • MENCAP Changemakers
  • Scope
  • Transport for All
  • Include me too

I gave a talk on access to music venues (or lack thereof), and I really thought we came up with some good ideas for the future. It was great that Baroness Grey-Thompson  and David Blunkett MP amongst others could join us too.

Overall, it was another great meeting.
