Following the recent coverage of our Cumbria accessible transport campaign, we have received the following information from Charlie Howsley, of Seaview Travel:

My company is called Seaview Travel, which I created to take my two sons in electric wheelchairs to Preston Uni and Bolton Uni, several times a week.

I bought a Renault Trafic van which is high top and long wheelbase, which was specifically built for transporting two wheelchairs securely. There are two other seats available for carers/friends ect, it is designed so that the wheelchair users may remain in their wheelchairs with full wheelchair restraint system on the floor, together with four point full harness seatbelts. Access is by electric lift at the rear, so no ramps needed. I obtained my private hire licence from South Lakeland District Council to carry up to four people.

I have vast experience transporting wheelchair users, as my two sons have muscular dystrophy and I have been transporting them for the last 12 years, and worked on Kendal traffic police for 26 years, and hold class one police advanced driving qualification.

Most evenings and week-ends would be available, and I would hope to be very competitive price wise. I am based in Storth, 9 miles south of Kendal.
