Trailblazers is a small team with a combination of paid staff, volunteers and our Regional Ambassadors.
Hello, I’m Lauren and I’m Trailblazers Manager.
I joined Muscular Dystrophy UK in December 2015, after being a Trailblazer since its beginning in 2008. I’m thrilled to now lead the fantastic Trailblazers in all the amazing work they do.
Since graduating in 2013 with a MA in Disability Studies, I’ve had a couple of roles. For the first 2 years post university, I was a caseworker for a homeless charity focusing on disabled people. I then got a job as an Advocate working in the East London borough of Newham supporting people with learning disabilities and mental illness.

I’m Michaela Hollywood and I’m a Trailblazers Campaigns Officer.
I was involved in setting up Trailblazers right at the beginning in Northern Ireland and voluntarily ran it for a year in Belfast while we were setting up.
I have an undergraduate degree in Public Relations and have just finished my Masters in Communication and Public Relations, where I specialised in Political Lobbying.
I’ll be looking after our political engagements, developing new campaigns and ensuring that all of you have a say. Trailblazers is nothing without people on the ground telling us what you want us to help you do!

I’m Emma Vogelmann and I’m the Employability Officer on our Moving Up project. I work with Trailblazers to create policy recommendations that will get more disabled people into work.
I graduated with a Law degree in 2016 and since then have volunteered with a few organisations that support and campaign for disabled people. I joined Muscular Dystrophy UK in October 2016 after interning with the Campaigns team.
I’m looking for young disabled people and London employers to be part of my Working Groups that will inform the recommendation I make to MPs and other decision-makers. If you’re interested in getting involved, please get in touch!

We are passionate about ensuring young disabled people are at the heart of what we do. This is why we’re lead by a group of young disabled people who volunteer their time as Regional Ambassadors to help shape our campaigns and activities.
