Payroll Giving Donate

Giving to charity directly from your salary is one of the most simple and tax-efficient ways to donate to MDUK.

Payroll giving (or Give as you earn – ‘GAYE’) is a simple, tax-efficient way to make regular donations to us straight from your salary. You can donate as much or as little you like, and you can stop your donation at any time. Because it's taken from your salary before any deductions are made, it means that your donation comes tax free, so every £1 you give will only cost you 80p (or, if you're a higher-rate tax payer, 60p).

There are no costs to you to donate through Payroll Giving, and no costs to the company other than the short amount of time taken to set up the scheme.

If you would like to donate to Muscular Dystrophy UK through your payroll, please complete the form or contact our Individual Giving Team at reply@musculardystrophyuk.org

Or, if you would like your employer to support Muscular Dystrophy UK through payroll giving, or you are a company that wishes to support MDUK, please contact us here.

FAQs

Is my employer able to process payroll giving?
You may wish to check with your payroll team, but even if they are not, it is easy for them to set up. If you complete our online form, we will automatically check whether your employer is registered and contact them for you.

Some employers will match-fund payroll giving donations – meaning for every £ you donate, your employer will match your gift and donate to the charity an amount every time you donate via your payroll.

How does it work?
Your employer will deduct your donation from your salary before tax, no need to share your bank details with us. Changes are easy to make through your work's payroll department.

How much will you give?
How much you give is up to you and you can always adjust the amount at any time. Remember, if you want to donate £10 a month, for example, you will only be deducted £8 thanks to the tax-efficiency of payroll giving.

One-off gifts
If you have a company bonus or otherwise wish to make an exceptional gift, you can always do this through payroll giving too, making your gift even more tax efficient. Talk to your employer about how you can do this through your payroll or contact our Individual Giving Team at reply@musculardystrophyuk.org
