Bidwells Cambridge 10k is our autumn run of the series and will be back on Sunday 6 October 2024.
About our Bidwells Cambridge 10k
This scenic 10k route takes you through the heart of Cambridge past landmarks, historic university college buildings and along the River Cam.
All 10k runs are licensed by Run Britain and we’re proud to be the recipient of a bronze award for the Best 10k in East England by The Running Awards 2019 and 2020.
Join us for the Bidwells Cambridge 10k race, an annual event that attracts around 3,000 runners every year.
Bidwells Cambridge 10k route
Our route takes you through the closed roads of Cambridge city centre, along the river Cam and onto Midsummer Common. You’ll run past many beautiful and historic landmarks and university buildings, with marshalling and clear signage throughout.

The Event Village for the Bidwells Cambridge 10k is on Midsummer Common, Victoria Avenue, Cambridge CB5 8DJ.
It’s where you can have any registration queries answered, drop your bags off, use the toilets, or buy food and drink.
The start and finish lines are just a one-minute warm-up jog away.
The 10k is open to everyone over the age of 16.
The Junior 3k is open to anyone aged 9-15.
The race attracts local runners, including university students, club runners and fun runners. If you’re a wheelchair user or have any accessibility requirements and would like to take part, contact us on townandgown10k@musculardystrophyuk.org and we’ll make the necessary arrangements.
If you registered on or before Tuesday 10 September 2024, you’ll get your bib in the post one week before the event. If you signed up after this date, or your race pack hasn’t arrived, you’ll need to collect your race number from the Event Village between 8-9am on the day. The Event Village is in Midsummer Common. We’ll keep you informed ahead of the event.
If you gave us your email address on entry, you’ll get an email with your chip-time after the race. All chip-timed results will be available on Results | Sublime Timing after the event.
If you’re unable to race, you can transfer your place to someone else, or defer your entry to a future Bidwells 10k event. The deadline for transfers and deferrals is Tuesday 10 September 2024. It won’t be possible to transfer your place after this date. Contact townandgown10k@musculardystrophyuk.org.
We have a large baggage marquee in the event village. Please write your race number on the tag provided and attach this to your bag. Race numbers will be checked when collecting bags.
We’re delighted to partner with the Coopah Run app who provide an affordable, personalised, running training plan. All our runners receive an exclusive two-week free trial after signing up with any Town and Gown 10K running event.

Trophy presentations will take place at 11am on the Event village stage . These will be based on chip-time achieved on the day for the following categories:
First, second and third place, female and male
First place in female and male age groups
Should you qualify for both an overall winner prize and an age group prize the greater value prize will be awarded to you. The other prize will be offered to the next finisher.
There’ s no parking at the Event Village, so we recommend travelling by public transport where possible and using either local Park and Ride services or local car parks. Book to use Park and Ride.
There are services running from Trumpington, Madingley, Milton and Newmarket Road. Journey time is roughly 15 minutes to Cambridge city centre on the Park and Ride, followed by a 5-10 minute walk to our Event Village at Midsummer Common.
The closest stops to the Event Village will be those in the city centre – Emmanuel Street, Drummer Street, Jesus College or Downing Street, depending on which service you get on.

Local Buses
There will be disruptions to local bus services, if you’re travelling by bus we recommend you check Cambridge Bus Times and the Stage Coach website.
Trains
Cambridge train station is a 30-minute walk from Midsummer Common. You can plan your journey using the National Rail enquiries Journey Planner.
Road closures will start from 8am on Sunday 6 October and remain in place until 12 noon. Victoria Avenue will be an exception and will close at 5.30am. Road closures will be managed by Chevron Traffic Management. Most roads will open as soon as the last runner passes with the exception of Victoria Avenue which will remain closed for the whole event.
