Do something … your own way

#BeFestive this year and do something your own way for MDUK.

Use your special talent or hobby to raise funds and help MDUK to be here for every adult and child in the UK who lives with a muscle-wasting condition. Or, like the Wilson family from Sunderland, you can add a unique sparkle to your festive activities and can encourage your local community to #BeFestive with you too.

Last year, Neil and Amanda Wilson spent three weeks decorating their home with 6,000 Christmas lights, to shine a light on the work of MDUK and encourage drivers and passers-by to donate. Amanda said the family chose to support MDUK Family Fund I’m In For Will, because their son, Dexter, goes to school with Will, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

“Neil absolutely loves Christmas, he’s like a big kid and last year, above all others, we wanted to bring joy to Will and his family. He started sourcing the lights in August, after we closed our business during lockdown, and all but the lights on the house were bought second-hand, locally. Our three children loved the decorations, and Dexter put the collection bucket out every night.”

So go on a sponsored walk or run, ask for collections in your local parish, sell vouchers in return for donations, or even go for a swim on Christmas/Boxing Day! #BeFestive like the Wilsons and do something your own way for MDUK.
