Criostai’s Heroes is a family fund set up by the Connolly family to raise funds and awareness for the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund.
Criostai Connolly lives in Loughgiel with his Mum and Dad Leona and Art and his 3 very protective sisters Lauren, Caitie and Anya. He is a fun loving child who loves Liverpool, Minecraft and Dan TDM the YouTuber!
Criostai was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in January 2013 when he was 5 years old. Art and Leona were of course shocked but as a strong family with tremendous community support they decided to put all their efforts into fundraising for research. In May 2014 over 60 people travelled to run the Belfast Marathon relay for Muscular Dystrophy UK raising £15,000. The Connolly family have also raised thousands through Community events such as a Vintage Car show and The Scenic Inn charity weekend.
Art and Leona are also active members of the Northern Ireland MDUK Council.
They are now launching Criostai’s Heroes to raise more awareness and continue their fundraising as a family fund.
They are involved in organising the Move a Mile for Muscles in Ballymoney and have more events in planning for the future!
