The Plymouth service is provided by a team of neuromuscular specialists which includes:
- A Consultant Neurologist with a specialist interest in neuromuscular conditions.
- Specialist Physiotherapists who can provide a knowledge resource for physiotherapy teams across the South West as well as offering physiotherapy review during specialist clinic consultations.
- Neuromuscular Advisors who provide support and advice for affected children and adults and their families.
- A Specialist Clinical Psychologist who provides a knowledge resource for psychology teams and some direct specialist assessments for over 18s.
The team also offer a number of outreach specialist clinics around the region and two visiting Paediatric Neurologists from the Bristol Neuromuscular team provide outreach paediatric clinics in Devon and Cornwall.

How to access the service
Referrals to the Specialist Consultants must be made by the patient’s General Practitioner or hospital doctor.

Dr Wood-Allum is based both at North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, also running outreach clinics in Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.

Lynne works as the co-ordinator for the Peninsular part of the network, providing support to network members based there and providing communication and information for patients living in the Devon and Cornwall areas.
