Main Purpose of Job:

The Policy and Professional Development Officer will play an important role in the delivery of the activities of the Outreach, Commissioning and Professional Development (OCPD) team to improve NHS care for people affected by muscle-wasting condition across the UK.

You will work with families, clinicians, NHS commissioners and other stakeholders to increase the number of neuromuscular specialists supporting people with a muscle-wasting condition. You will make a real difference to the lives of the 70,000 people in the UK affected by these conditions by influencing health policy at a European, national, regional and local level which affects people with a neuromuscular condition. You will also drive forward the education and upskilling of health professionals and play a role in Muscular Dystrophy UK’s (MDUK) work to improve access to vital neuromuscular multi-disciplinary team care, respiratory equipment and expert emergency care.

This role is based at our office in Southwark, London. It is within a short walking distance of Southwark and Borough Tube stations. It is also a short distance from Waterloo Station, London Bridge Station and Blackfriars Station. We are also a 5 minute walk from the Tate Modern and Southbank, perfect place to go for lunch during the warm summer months.
