Good luck #TeamOrange!

It’s almost time for our largest ever #TeamOrange to take on the world’s largest half-marathon, the Great North Run. All of the team here at Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) would like to wish our runners the best of luck ahead of the iconic half-marathon.

There will be 175 members of #TeamOrange taking on the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields this Sunday 8 September and they’ll be cheered on by the thousands of people who line the streets in support year after year.

Our incredible runners are on track to raise an enormous £90,000 for Muscular Dystrophy UK, all of which goes towards research and supporting the individuals and families who are living with muscle-wasting conditions. A huge THANK YOU for all the hard work and effort you’ve put in so far, and for making every step count in the race against muscular dystrophy. Now to get over the finish line!

Cheer point

Our MDUK cheer point will be located at Mile 12 of the route. Please do come along and join our #CheerSquad in supporting #TeamOrange on the last leg of their Great North Run Journey. You’ll be able to locate us by using the following postcode: NE34 7JY (Coast Road, South Shields).

Please bear in mind that we will be based on the right hand side of the road. The side that is to the right of the runners as they’re running and the side that is closest to the sea. Once the race starts, you’ll be unable to cross the road.

Post race reception

We’ll be holding a post-race reception in the charity village for our #TeamOrange runners to come along with their family and friends once they’ve crossed the finish line. Here, runners will be able to have some refreshments, meet other runners and their families and enjoy a much-needed massage! To locate the charity village, use the postcode: NE33 3NG

Where you’ll find us: Avenue C, Marquee number 37

Event day guides

More in depth information ahead of the event this weekend can be found in the event day guides below. There is one specifically for runners, and one for those coming along to support on the day. These should contain all the information you need.
