Kal Hussamy

Supporter Kal Hussamy from Prestbury in Cheshire certainly knows how to make a splash when it comes to fundraising.

Kal recently took on the challenge of the Selkie Henley Classic event which meant an upstream swim in the River Thames.

The course for this swimming challenge is a unique 2.1km point-to-point swim (no turns) and takes advantage of the boomed course of the Henley Royal Regatta. The swim is upstream with the strength of the stream variable from year to year ensuring no two events are the same.

Not only did Kal complete the course in a very sedate (his own words!) 1 hour and 19 minutes but he also incredibly managed to raise over £9,500 in sponsorship for his efforts!

Kal was moved to take on this challenge in support of a friend who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and the money he has raised will be used to help further the work of the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund.

Well done Kal on a fantastic job and thank you from everyone at Muscular Dystrophy UK!
