Trailblazers in a large circle discussing an agenda.

Muscular Dystrophy UK Trailblazer’s are pleased to announce that there is now a Working Group for London employers as part of the Employability Project. The Employability project will focus on the barriers that young disabled people face when trying to find work and will be working closely with the Moving Up project. This group will be run by Emma Vogelmann our new Employability Officer who will be drafting MDUK’s policy in this area.

The Working Group will be for MDUK to learn about employer’s thoughts and concerns when hiring a disabled person. These discussions will directly inform the recommendations and policies MDUK gives to members of Parliament and other decision-makers. Trailblazers understands that these could be difficult conversations to have with an organisation that supports disabled people. Therefore we will also be running an anonymous survey to get as much honest feedback as possible to enable appropriate policy to be drafted.

To join the Working Group you must work at an organisation based in London. It would be helpful if the member plays a role in recruitment or managing employees to understand how the organisation operates and might handle a disabled applicant.

If you’d like to join the working group or if you’d like more information on the project, please do not hesitate to get in touch on e.vogelmann@musculardystrophyuk.org
