The Neurology department at St Georges Hospital specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles.
The Neurology department at St George’s benefits from hosting the Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre, based in the Atkinson Morley Wing.
The department consists of 29 consultant staff, including visiting consultants based primarily at other hospitals who provide specialist clinics at St George’s. As well as General Neurology clinics, a wide range of specialist outpatient clinics are provided. There are also ten Clinical Nurse Specialists who provide a range of outpatient clinics and domiciliary care.

Dr Niranjanan Nirmalananthan
Dr Niranjanan Nirmalananthan’s main specialist interests are in neuromuscular disorders. He runs weekly regional specialist clinics for nerve and muscle disease. In addition he sees general inpatient and outpatient neurology at St Geroge’s. His main academic interests are in neurogenetics.
Dr Min Htut
Dr Min Htut trained in neurophysiology and neurology at Wessex Neurological Centre Southampton, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and North Staffordshire University Hospital. Dr Min Htut was awarded MD for research by University College of London, London University. Dr Min Htut sub-specialises in neuromuscular disorders.
