Having a look at getting my first pair of wheels, Is there anywhere that people can recommend?

Go to GBL wheelchair warehouse in Twickenham if you can. Arrange a session with Ian and he will get you to try lots of different types. Then go away and think about it before you buy anything. You can’t access wheelchair services? Or don’t want to? Or have a voucher?

Or, wait til the mobility roadshow in the summer. Try out lots and talk to the reps and decide if there are any (of the reps) that you like. Take a business card and get them to come to your house.

    Will check out GBL :)
    Thank you

I cant wait till the summer, I need one for travelling in March.
I split my kneecap and while I can waddle its unstable and I cant stand up.
So I am looking for something I can fold up and fit on a flight for intermittent use.

What are wheelchair services and where would I get a voucher from?

There’s a link on that page, I think, where you can check where your local wheelchair services are. If you get in touch with them, they will probably want to do an assessment to see what you’re entitled to. It all takes time, I’m sorry to say.

If you have an MD care advisor or a social care OT or a friendly GP they may be able to speed the process up for you…
