    DLA to PIP Changeover Delayed….

People were due to start being switched over from DLA to PIP on Monday 28th October.

At the very last moment this had been changed.

Instead of rolling this out nationwide they will start on a more limited rollout in Wales, the East and West Midlands
    and East Anglia.

The following article hints at large problems at the DWP and maybe complete meltdown. Indeed there are 3.2 million
people to be re-assessed and the disaster of re-assessing 1.5 million on IB means they will be more careful.

Just on the off chance we have any valued friends in say East Anglia, do not worry about this. They are talking
about the first stage of this process, where only people whose fixed term award ends or those who report
a change in circumstances. The general re-assessment will start in October 2015.

Not concerned for myself, because unless someone invents a miracle cure, then in DWP terms my condition isn’t going to change.

But it is concerning for others I know living locally who aren’t yet at that stage. It’s going to be a big discouragement for them to report a change in circumstances if their condition does get worse. We are being experimented on.

The whole thing is, undoubtedly, in a complete (and completely predictable and indeed predicted) mess. But the Tories and their Lib Dem buddies are too far down the road to roll the process back, as they would if they had any moral compass.

In a memorable piece of Politico speak the the Government minister Mr Penning has said :-

“Introducing natural reassessment gradually enables us to test the claimant reassessment journey.”

…..some wag has added, “Yes, but only if that journey is under 20 metres”

Which is, of course, as has been observed before, just after the next general election.

So avoids the possibility of voters responding to all the negative headlines about the poor crips losing their support (I mean the heroic, deserving, media-friendly, paralympian-type crips, not the ordinary scrounging crips who’ve wrecked our economy).

And it will be far enough away from the next election that voters will have forgotten about it by the time they get the chance to vote again.

It’s so nakedly political that it almost takes the breath away. But the government continues to get away with it.

Hmm, that all depends on them recognising who is on what …

No matter what processes are put in place to ‘ease’ changes it is always understated and useless. Remember the debarcle of the Passport software changes, CSA introduction and subsequent changes. The billions spend on the DWP’s ‘new streamlined, multi-facetted’ CiS system that I ‘think’ has been scrapped. Reading that article only tells me that they have absolutely no clue the volume, the diversity and the issues that are going to arise, let alone have any clue how to handle them.

Atos screwed up the system, royally, when they started the reassess process and even now, years later, things are still taking in excess of 12 weeks.

We are the volunteered guinea pigs for the system yet again; proving that those making decisions have no clue.
