    Fresh blood…newbee joins

    HEY EVERYONE

Sorry if i’ve posted this in the wrong section. So i’m 22, female and from London. I don’t have muscular dystrophy but I have charco-mariet-tooth disease which falls under the umbrella of muscular dystrophy but it is not severe. I’ve joined this forum as the ones for CMT sufferers don’t seem very active. Although saying that I only thought to join them this morning haha i’m impatient! Erm I have tended to isolate myself my whole life since leaving school and stuggle to make connexions since I rarely ever go out on my own.

I’d really like to talk to people that can emphasise with what it’s like to feel so tired all the bloody time! It would be nice to make some friends whether that be online or meeting up in person potentially.

If you’d like to talk sometime feel free to PM me…happy to talk about anything

    Thanks for reading!

    Welcome Only Human,

We do regard CMT as a fully fledged member of Muscular Dystrophy.

There are so many common factors you will find with all the
other forms of MD, the subjects we discuss will be of great
relevance. I remember looking up on our main MDC site CMT
so we must have had posters with that condition.

A lot of the time we just chat and chill and share things
like Pet Photos. The great thing is we are talking to
    people who do understand.

Thanks for all the replies. Really appreciate it and nice to hear from understanding people. That’s probably the hardest thing to find in friends i.e. they can emphasise but never truely understand where i’m coming from or why I can’t do certain things. It’s not their fault ofcourse but nice to be here anyway and nice of you guys to welcome me :Dx

Hi, I am a newbie too & have CMT. I can totally relate to the isolation & being knackered all the time lol…it’s time to change, so thought I would join the MD Group for support & hopefully meet some lovely people.
I’m going shopping for some new high-top trainers or boots today to try & hide my new orthotics, which I never wear because I feel embarrassed – silly I know as they mean I can walk so much further than just down the street! ;p I would love to embrace CMT & stop hiding it and start living life to the max again :)
Hope you are all well & would love to hear from you :ty:

    :welcome:

Hello there Becky, there are several me,bees here with CMT.

It is not silly being embarrassed by the changes we have to adapt to. It takes time, something we have plenty of sometimes. I have always hated shoe shopping, still do.

Welcome newbies! I know how you feel especially as a young woman ( I was young once)with a debilitating condition.
My daughter has my condition too Wichita as others on here has similar problems.
She is 18 & keeps trying to go clubbing lol! Dance like she used to but she falls & collapses so they think that she is very drunk lol!
Don’t give up trying to live life to the max as you only get one!
I tell her & don’t worry about was others think, they’ll get there (like a 90yrd old) in the end it may just take them seventy years lol!

Hi guys, thank you for all the lovely welcome messages & it’s great to know there are people out there who understand what I’m talking about :D I would love to just get back out there exploring new things & places & doing what I can & not worrying about what I can’t.

Things are looking up though & joining this forum is part of getting that happy bubbliness back  It’s time to toughen up! :)

So big hugs to everybody & hope you are doing well. Would love to hear from you & offer my support back
