Every BBC News has been from the waters edge in Great Yarmouth
with reporters pretending to be King Canute.

.remember you are pretty close to the sea ?

The media were theirtypical over hype and they found the ditziest weirdoes to interview. The Army were erecting temporary barriers, hundres of sandbags were filled and placed, my nephew works for the council and was out bagging and evacuating the oldies until late. Really all the plans worked very well, yes there was flooding but because the plans worked the floods were at worst knee level where as in 1953 it was 8 to 10 feet high.

I’m up a hill, there are many houses between me and the river that would have to be toppled before I get dmp toes.

We even managed to keep power

    .

Two weeks ago I had the call from environment Agency about the biggest surge with the biggest wind and
tidal flow. Spent the night with a bag packed but our new sea defences held too !

…….we had been dragging every ditch on the norfolk Broads for you all morning !

It was a close call …. you saw my FB pic, there was only a few inches betweenthe peak of the tide and the harbour wall. It did breach some areas but nothing significant.

However, seven miles south in Lowestoft and oulton Broad they had knee and waist high flooded areas.

The papers are full of the bungalows that toppled ff the sandy cliffs *sigh* sad but it is like buying a boat and complaining about the water surrounding it.
