I must be considered sheltered in terms of TV nowadays…I haven’t seen Downton Abbey, Call The Midwife, anything like that! I’m like Valerie…a complete soap nut. However, my fave telly programme at the moment has to be ‘Leverage’ on Fox – a group of ex-criminals use their unique skills for good, and help change people’s lives when the police can’t or won’t. Well worth a watch :)

Loved the third & final  ‘The Killing’ on BBC Four in December. Kept it on the HD to watch again later in the year. Watch Mrs Brown’s Boys religiously, I nearly pee at the fella in a dress  .

And Hairy Bikers anything, sssh, it’ll ruin me image.

Oh I forgot another, has anybody heard of ‘Horrible Histories’ ? It’s a kid’s programme but, man is it educational & very witty. Even I learn stuff on it so it can only be good for kids.

I have heard good things around this too, the books are a real draw for the kids, which is great.

No worries, your street cred is in tact we won’t tell anyone about your ‘Hairy’ lovin ;) ;)

Horrible Histories is brilliant, and a very good way of filling up a spare half-hour.

Currently enjoying Spiral, running on BBC4. If you’re feeling bereft after the end of The Killing, it might fill the gap, as it has the same sort of feel to it. In French with subtitles…

Aw cobblers, I just searched Spiral & there’s only episodes five & six out of twelve available to watch. No point starting in the middle but, thanks for the pointer ;) . I’ll trawl eBay & Amazon to try find ’em used on dvd.

If you want a gentle tale of days gone by there is the historical drama “Spartacus”….

…….and after watching it you will be instantly qualified to work in your local butcher’s shop.

    Derek.

I think it fuels the Ricky Gervais haters. Me, I don’t mind the bloke. He has to have a thick skin with so many people so willing & ready to openly attack him.

But, Derek… IMO, is a well written, well observed, humorous & critical observation of some council bureaucrats & some of the public (he must of had access to a facility somewhere cos he wouldn’t naturally move in those social circles with the elderly in homes etc) in the way we treat & look after the elderly more than anything. If anybody says Ricky Gervais has made this to further his career I don’t think you’ve watched it or watched it properly. The episode with the ‘ring’ had me laughing & shouting in anger at the tv. I’m not nuts, you have to see it to relate.

I appreciate not everybody will feel the same but, my Dad didn’t like RG until I made him sit through Derek & he felt same as me after.

    Hope for second series

    Derek is good !

    Very good !

Very socially aware and makes points on many levels. Particularly on the faceless bureaucrats
and petty bean-counters who decide on the allocation of resources in this vital
    part of our social structure.

    Well done RG.

Yeah it’s quite good, the music is nice but the main actress who plays the ol’ country girl does my head in a bit…

I totally forgot about Crufts! Doesn’t get the same coverage nowadays though after the whole ethical debate a few years ago..

Don’t watch BGT but, I did watch this kid. Fair play. He’s funny, observant, humble & deserved the adulation & applause from the audience & the subsequent compliments & encouragement from the judges. Hope you achieve your ambition Jack ;)

    Anyone still watching Nashville?

I’m still enjoying it. Usually record it on Thursday and watch Saturday evening.

Also enjoy The Good Wife, although I’m going to miss Will.
