    Quite !

……..and at exactly half the price of the iPad, it is thinner and lighter and more accessible with
the new Adroid 4.1 operating system. There is a bewildering array of new accessibily options for diabled people,
including the new “Talkback” feature and control via gestures, sweeps and finger control.

With a £ 1 OTG cable I can load any data from USB memory sticks or my 1 TB external hard drive.

Not turning my back on Apple, just rejoicing that the competition have caught up. This should
spur Apple on to raise the bar even higher for disabled people.

Seems you made a fine choice Foxy, just hope me Mum doesn’t see either of those stories cos I recommended getting the Galaxy Tab 7 but, in my defence that was in the summer.

That’s the trouble with technology, you make a decision and they bring out something new

I finally picked a winner (not your mum that is), best tablet and best gadget for the Google Nexus 7.

In two words, “seamless Integration” , (and light enough to be with me 24 hours a day).

    Just replaced my iPad2 with a Nexus7 16gb

Lovely lovely lovely bit of kit and the fact its 340g makes it even better. No stress on arms and can hold easily with one hand.

I have no issues at all with Android (I have been using Android phones for 2 years now)….the only thing that takes some getting used to is the change in screen size.

A thumbs up from me for the Nexus 7! Also, there is allegedly a 32gb being released anytime soon for £199 which is the same price as the current 16gb

Right on the point again Woogy.

Was watching it live and got quite interested when they announced the price was only
£ 206, thought I had made a mistake in going for the Nexus 7 last month. An hour later
we find that is the price for rich americans only. Us Brits have to pay £ 269 for the very basic version. Do
not tell them you are disabled or the price will go up again.

Once you add in the preprietary Lightning Connector and a case and the price is well over a
hundred pounds more expensive. For once I have made the right decision, why would I
pay that amount extra for a dual core tablet with an inferior screen, when the Nexus is
    a Quad core.

There are no new features in this iPad, in fact they have removed the magnificent Retina display.

It is a great machine no doubt, but overpriced. Techies say the components cost about a hundred dollars,
the rest is pure profit and a large advertising budget to get saps like you and me to buy it.

Yer, I rather like my ipad 2 but, once the data plan is up I will gladly sell that on or give it to a member of the family & invest in the latest & greatest Android tablet at that time. The thing with Apple is, it is more style than substance. Apps are cheaper, if not free, on the Android platform & the hardware considerably less expensive. And then there’s the conscious thing, knowing that some poor sod in China is slaving away for a pittance to assemble your new shiny must have. I’ve tried it & happy to leave it.

Not having flash player on Apple is a major draw back but, seeing as Adobe are ceasing to update that too I’m not sure what the future is with regard video & image display on any platform/format. I know BBC iplayer already uses a different method. I paid & tried a different browser on ipad called ‘Skyfire’ that is supposed to be able to play flash content by converting it in the cloud but, it’s US based & mainly only converts US content for US users – very, very annoying as it doesn’t mention any of that until you complain, it simply brags it can play flash content

One American has pointed out that the price inequlity is even worse at the top
end of the market. The 64 Gb iPad Mini is $ 529. This week Staples Advantage
have been advertising the new 32 Gb Nexus 7 for $ 249. So you can get the
two Nexus 7’s for less than the price of this new Mini Ipad.

Android being open source, they will rapidly solve a lot of the the problems people
have with flash player and other issues. Android have now equalled the number of Apple
Apps downloaded. Apple just getting into the small tablet market is an admission of panic and defeat.

Having said that all the Apple products are superb. Just pleased to have other options
and not to have to use their “walled gardens”, designed to sell other Apple products.

To make that point, Apple also announced that the wonderful iPad that AMG bought
six months ago is now obsolete and replaced by iPad 4 – too soon !
