    The Thousand Sneeze Day…….

Had a really weird one last week.

My “sneezing fits” have got worse. But is it an MD thing??

All my life I have had these sneezing fits where I loudly and repetitively sneeze 25-30 or 35
times in rapid succession. At school I was obviously sent out to stand in the cold for disrupting lessons.

The last two years the intensity and ferocity of these has increased. Last week was the worst of all. Time
after time after time, followed by time again with less and less gap in between. Not a cold
day and I had not been out at all. There must have been over a thousand sneezes, accompanied by
running eyes and non painful clearing coughing.

The day after I just could not breath, my ribs were so painful. It was a day in bed letting the CPAP
    breath for me.

Weird or really weird. Have ny other MD peeps had this ?

(Doctor has given me Anti-Histamines Cetrizine and Fexofenadine to no effect)

Right on cue, I have woken up today a lovely sunny mild day to three and a half
    hours of outrageous sneezing.

    What is going on?

Back to bed with Audible alerts on in case of crisis.

My sneezes have changed as I have changed …. I sense the build up, take the breath and they come out more like a cough than a sneeze. I am always fearful that if I am standing when I have a snot-rocket of a sneeze I will knock myself off balance. Had a guy-pal one time put his back out with a sneeze.

    Dangerous things them do be.

Always kinda put sneezes together with allergies or strong perfum smells. I cant go near yankee candle and have a fit every day at lunch time at work when all the ladies come back freshly perfumed.(like do they submerge themselves in the stuff)

but do you think it is some inbuilt rescue mode in in bods saying “hey you, breath deeper”

I hit a patch when on bright sunny days, especially in the autumn / winter, and especially first thing in the morning, I’d just sneeze and sneeze. In the end we worked out it was just a strange kind of allergy, which could be controlled by use of a simple nasal inhaler or hayfever-type tablets.

Yes, I think that is what I was hinting that there was some underlying neurological factor.

As AMG says is accompanied by similar form coughing and I have been given the two most common
allergy medications to rule those out.

We have discussed on other threads that the throat is a very difficult area when it comes to swallowing issues
and for that to work correctly it takes an incredible number of pairs of muscles to all contract and relax in
exactly the the right sequence and timing. In my case it doesn’t work right and causes issues and needs strict
    procedures to be followed.

Maybe it is even some of the same muscles that are involved with coughing and sneezing and it
is not a big stretch to think that they are affected by our recalcitrant muscles and this may
cause the sneezing and coughing reflex to be triggered with timings that are slightly off
or awry. Just annoying and completely debilitating and now strains the rib muscles as well.

    Why is life so……
