    Re: The Ipad Decision….

    Hi folks,
tell me to shut up if you already know this, but an Ipad won’t have Flash so you won’t be able to use certain websites where Flash is necessary. My brother-in-law has an Ipad and it’s a lovely thing to behold, but my sister can’t use it to play Scrabble with me on Facebook as Scrabble is dependent on Flash. Therefore when I got a tablet, I chose a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 which does have Flash and I’m pleased with it [it is a bit shiny and slippery to hold though, but I think you can slip it in a case to protect it while you’re using it.]

    Re: What are you reading?

I shelved Moby Dick … watched the old original movie, intending to watch the Patrick Stewart remake. The book just got too boggy for my eyes

The Patrick Stewart version is really good. We got it free with the Daily Mail I think [DVD] and watched it a couple of years ago. It’s very long though – about 3-4 hours so it took 2 evenings to see!

    Re: What are you reading?

I’ve just noticed this thread – I love reading and have got through a few books since the beginning of the year due to being in bed for a spell following a spasm. I’ve recently enjoyed “Titanic Love Stories” about honeymoon couples who were on the ill-fated ship. At the minute I’m on a book by Debbie Macomber called “Lighthouse Street” – it’s the first of her Cedar Cove stories. I noticed that AnneMarie was reading Moby Dick last year. There’s a fantastic book [non fiction] called “In The Heart of the Sea” by Nathaniel Philbrick which recounts the events that inspired the Moby Dick book. It was one of the best books I’ve ever read!

Re: How do you cope with the winter weather?

I have permanently cold feet and discovered Mycoal Foot Warmers about 3 years ago. You can buy them direct from a place called Not Only Bowls [or find them on ebay]. You put a pad in each slipper or shoe and it heats up and lasts for 4 or 5 hours. You can’t reuse them though. I’ve used a pair almost every day since I bought my first packet and they really help keep my toes warm.

    Re: Sheets and nightwear

    Hello Petered,

This is my first time on Talk MD. I’ve had MD for a long while and thought I’d look in on the forum. I think I can offer some advice regarding your problem with sheets and nightwear. I’ve just been on ebay and typed in “satin sheets” and “mens satin pajamas.” There’s a lot of choice for both and they are nowhere near as expensive as real silk. Also, you don’t have to opt for the leopard print variety!
