The team at The West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre work closely with other professionals based at the centre including Speech and Language Therapy, psychology, orthotists and nurses and link closely with University Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands respiratory and the RJAH. Neuromuscular clinics run three times a month and are attended by a specialist neuromuscular physio and occupational therapist.
The Neuromuscular Specialist Clinic offers an assessment to highlight any needs of symptom management or difficulties which people with neuromuscular conditions are experiencing. The clinic aims to help patients maintain independence and adapt to changes which affect their social and domestic life. During appointments a patient can receive assistance from a number of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, wheelchair services and orthotics.
