    Anyone else like me

I am 14 years old and have muscular dystrophy can still walk, run and swim; only have slight difficulty getting up and going up stairs. But i am very independent and don’t need a wheelchair. I was wandering if there was anyone out their like me. :D

Hi Benjamin and welcome to TalkMD! :D

I am learning that there are many types and subtypes of Muscular Dystrophy and differences in how conditions develop. Do you know your particular type? I know within the subtype I have, Ullrich CMD, there is a spectrum between those who are mildly affected who are walking in their teens and have few contractures and people like myself who stopped walking around puberty and developed joint stiffness and other symptoms earlier.

Good to have you on board – it is good to have some posts from younger members, feel free to share your experiences or ask questions…

    Hi Benjamin,

    Glad you have found us.

As Sarah says it is a complicated subject, so if you have any
questions at all just ask away.

We do have a few youngers memebers but it will probably be a few days before
any of them see your post.
