MDUK Muscles Matter 2021 – Monday 28 June

Our MDUK Muscles Matter 2021 online seminar series continued on Monday 28 June with a seminar on psychological support.

We were joined in our psychological seminar by psychologist Dr Jatin Pattni, care advisor Pippa Jackson, specialist nurse Maria Patasin, Andrew Robertson who lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy, and MDUK’s Head of Health Service Development and Campaigns Bobby Ancil. The panel discussed how physical and mental health impact on one another, and how there is a need to tailor resources to individuals based on who they are and what they might respond to.

One resource that Muscular Dystrophy UK offers is our getting mental health support factsheet, and there are numerous support groups available:

FSHD support group

CMT Friends UK

Duchenne Family Support Group

Myositis Friends Support Network

Myotonic Dystrophy Support group

Congenital myotonic dystrophy support group

OPMD support group
