Peer support

Connect with someone who gets it.

What is peer support?

Peer support is an opportunity to connect with someone who understands the impact a muscle wasting condition can have.

Our trained peer support volunteers have personal experience of living with a muscle wasting condition, or a family member who lives with one.

They will listen without judgement. They know exactly what you’re going through.

They’re passionate about providing support, advice, and guidance to anyone affected by a muscle wasting condition.

Whether you’ve just been diagnosed, you’re the parent of a child with a condition, or you need help with a particular challenge – access peer support today.

You must be over 18 years of age to access this service.

How does peer support work?

Fill out our form

If you’d like to be paired with one of our peer support volunteers, fill out this form and we’ll match you with our must suitable volunteer.

We'll get in touch

Once we’ve found a match, we’ll contact you to let you know more about who your peer support volunteer will be.

Getting support

If you’re happy with your match, we’ll then pass on your details and they will get in touch.

What can I expect from my first contact?

It can feel daunting to speak with a stranger about something so personal.

Our peer support volunteers are trained to help you feel as comfortable as possible.

You can share as little or as much as you like.

Everything you say is strictly confidential and is between yourself and your peer support volunteer. The only exception is if your volunteer has any concerns about your safety or wellbeing.

Ongoing support

The way you connect with your peer volunteer is up to you – you could email, call, text or video call.

You can speak as much or as little as you like. It may be that you have a specific challenge that you’d like support with or you may want ongoing emotional support.

Our peer support volunteers are here for you, to support you at your own pace.
