Grangemouth firm jumps in at the deep end to support Muscular Dystrophy UK

The Hot Tub SuperCentre has been supporting MDUK by supplying use of their tubs for anyone with a muscle-wasting condition.

This is in addition to sponsoring MDUK’s annual fundraising event,  A Question of Support Dinner & Quiz. Now, to raise more money, staff plan to skydive on March 22 to raise an extra £4,000.

Two local boys, who have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, are really benefiting from regular hydrotherapy.

Kerr Hunter, 7, from Falkirk, loves his hot tub. His mum Alyson said:

Having initially helped out with arranging the loan of hot tubs to others living with muscular dystrophy, I’m overwhelmed by how much support from the Hot Tub SuperCentre has grown and how much they now do for the charity. We wish the team the best of luck with their skydive!

Operations Director at the Hot Tub Supercentre, Richie Winning said:

Hydrotherapy can help ease the pain and allow free movement of muscles and joints. This is why we offer free week-long hire of the tubs to anyone with muscular dystrophy.

We help MDUK as much as we can, including sponsoring their main fundraising event in Scotland each year. Now we have decided to go that little bit further and take part in a skydive to help raise awareness of these conditions that affect so many. All of our team are taking part in a skydive on 22nd March. We hope to raise an additional £4000 which will go directly to Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Finance Director Andy Winning said:

A few of the team have done a Skydive before. However the majority of us are first timers so are really looking forward to the experience at the same time as helping a great cause. I believe a few of the guys are also scared of heights so I’m sure the day will be entertaining for those watching on.

Arryn Widd 21, is thoroughly enjoying having a hot tub newly installed at home. His father Dean said:

Having his own personal hydrotherapy experience has proved to be great for Arryn both mentally and physically. He loves the freedom of movement experienced when in the hot tub and afterwards feels a lot more relaxed.

Dean, who is MDUK’s regional development manager in Scotland added:

It has been a delight working with Richie and his team at the Hot Tub Supercentre. The kind corporate support for MDUK has been overwhelming, from sponsoring the annual Question of Support charity and dinner event to taking on the challenge of a skydive in March. I can’t thank Richie and his team enough for helping make every day count for those with muscular dystrophy
