MDUK Helpline: "It’s great that it’s there for if you need a bit of help with something"

Our Helpline team are the first stop for answers, support or just to talk to someone who knows about muscle-wasting conditions.

They can provide information, help you find services to support you, and take the time to talk about what your condition means for you. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have hit a new chapter in living with a lifelong condition, the team are here to help.

Sarah Rose, 40, from Hailsham, has Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy, which affects around 200 people in the UK. She contacted the Helpline after having problems with finding travel insurance for a cruise.

Says Sarah:

It’s good to know that you can just pick up the phone and get your questions answered. It’s great to talk to people who are as clued up as you are on issues to do with muscular dystrophy – not everyone has a good hospital team behind them who know about these things. If it wasn’t for the charity, I wouldn’t have anyone to ask these questions.”

You can call our Freephone helpline 0800 652 6352 10am – 2pm Monday – Friday, or email us on info@musculardystrophyuk.org.
