Archie’s Mile for Muscles

On Sunday 10 May the Hill Family organised a fantastic event for Move a Mile for Muscles, to help raise money for their family fund: Action4Archie.

Archie’s parents, Gary and Louisa, got the whole community involved with a scenic 5k walk. So they not only moved a mile – they actually moved over 3!

Archie was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2009, at just three years old. Because of this, he and his family understand the significance of movement- and everyone who took part in the event on the day could appreciate being able to join in.

On the day, over 300 people turned up to take part, including Muscular Dystrophy UK’s Chief Executive, Robert Meadowcroft.

The Hill family did an excellent job in planning and organising this scenic walk through the countryside. It was a lovely atmosphere and wonderful to see so many people coming to support Gary and Louisa Hill, and their sons Archie and Leyton, together with Muscular Dystrophy UK in their fight against Duchenne.  Congratulations to everyone who took part to support the Hill family, their family fund Action4Archie and Muscular Dystrophy UK, knowing that the vital funds raised will be used in the fight to beat Duchenne muscular dystrophy.”

Thank you to everyone who has shown their support during this event. We are still awaiting the total raised, and will share this information as soon as possible.

Louisa said “We’ve been inundated with people, which has been absolutely fantastic. We’re all overwhelmed.”

You can support the Hill family on their JustGiving page.

It’s easy to get involved with Move a Mile for Muscles, and we look forward to seeing lots of events throughout the summer months.
