Safeguarding Policy

Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk.

We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, and protected from harm. To support this, we have robust safeguarding policies and procedures in place to help protect individuals and respond promptly to concerns. These policies apply to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and trustees. They ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All members of our organisation must follow MDUK’s safeguarding policies and report concerns immediately. Where necessary, concerns will be referred to the appropriate authorities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals.

While we take all reasonable steps to ensure safety, we cannot guarantee the prevention of all harm and cannot accept liability for circumstances beyond our control or outside the scope of our safeguarding procedures. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and we expect all staff, volunteers, contractors, and trustees to adhere to our policies and act promptly if concerns arise. Your safety and wellbeing are our top priority. If you ever have a concern about your own safety or the safety of someone else, please contact us straight away.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are here to listen, support, and take appropriate action. We will treat all concerns seriously and handle them with sensitivity and confidentiality. You can reach us by phone or email, and if you prefer, we can arrange a private conversation at a time that suits you.

We are here to work with you and ensure that everyone feels safe and supported.
