Charity members

We are keen to encourage our supporters to become more involved in the charity by becoming a charity member.

We aim to recruit more people with a strong interest in the work of the charity, who wish to help us succeed in winning the fight to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Our charity members come from all walks of life – those living with muscle-wasting conditions, as well as families, doctors, scientists, and long-term supporters of the charity, branch members and representatives.

Charity members are similar to shareholders of a company, and are invited to attend and vote at all general meetings of Muscular Dystrophy UK (including the AGM).

Charity membership of Muscular Dystrophy UK is free and open to:

  • any individuals aged 18 or over
  • any organisation, by nominating a named individual.

Employees of the charity are not eligible for charity membership until one year after their employment ends.

Applications for charity membership have to be approved by the Board of Trustees.
