Giving in Memory

Giving a gift to Muscular Dystrophy UK in memory of a loved one is a special way to honour their life.  Every gift we receive in memory of someone creates a legacy of vital support and research into muscle wasting and weakening conditions.

There are many different ways to pay tribute to someone special and support us.

Gifts in memory: Make a one-off or regular donation to commemorate the life of someone special.

Remembrance Tributes: Create a special place online where friends and loved ones can share treasured memories.

Funeral arrangements and memorial collections: Create a funeral notice and order materials for your collection.

Leave a gift in memory

Donating a gift in memory is a special way to honour the life of a loved one. It will also have a lasting impact on critical research and support for people living with muscle wasting conditions.

You can leave a gift in memory at any time. For example, you might want to commemorate someone’s life by leaving a gift on their birthday, anniversary or another special day. Or you could reflect their commitment to fighting muscular dystrophy by setting up a Direct Debit.

To make a one-off donation or set up a regular gift, simply complete our online donation form or call us on 0300 012 0172.

Alternatively, kindly make cheques payable to: Muscular Dystrophy UK, 32 Ufford Street, London, SE1 8QD. Please include a cover letter with your cheque explaining whose memory the gift is in so we can thank you.

Create a Remembrance Tribute

A Remembrance Tribute is a special online space where you can invite friends and family to share treasured memories, photos and messages for your loved one. You can even light virtual candles to remember their birthday and other special days.

If you choose to, you can use the space to collect donations for Muscular Dystrophy UK. You can also set up fundraising events and sponsored activities in memory of your loved one and see how much they raised.

Setting up a Remembrance Tribute is easy to do. To begin, simply fill out this short form:

“My eldest son Paul loved life and lived it to the full. He was bright and accomplished, and his positivity left a mark on the people lucky enough to know him. Before Paul died, he calmly told us that he’d written his own funeral plans.  When he passed away, we found out that he wanted us to hold a disco for his wake. He loved a party, and it felt like the perfect way to start raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.  Since then, we’ve set up a Remembrance Tribute page in his memory. It’s a way for us to let people know what fundraising event we’re doing next and keep Paul’s memory alive.”  – Anne Peterson

Funeral arrangements and memorial collections

Donating in memory at your loved one’s funeral or instead of flowers is a meaningful way for family and friends to remember them.

You can choose to create a funeral notice online to provide guests with all the information they need, including a map and a place to leave special thoughts and wishes. If you would like, the funeral notice can also let guests know about any particular wishes for the day, such as your chosen charity or charities for donations.

Setting up an online funeral notice is easy to do. To begin, simply fill out this short form.

We can provide you with a range of materials to support your funeral, memorial service or celebration collections, including:

  • donation envelopes to allow people to add Gift Aid to their donation, increasing their donation by 25p per pound at no extra cost to them
  • collection boxes to make it easy to donate
  • information about Muscular Dystrophy UK and how donations are spent

If you would like to receive these materials, please fill in our funeral materials form

Pin badges are also available through our shop. These are a great way to honour your loved one’s memory and continue their legacy of kindness. Each pin badge purchase supports groundbreaking research and life-changing support, ensuring their impact lives on.

If you have already held a collection, you can send us the funds online or by cheque through the post. Kindly make cheques payable to: Muscular Dystrophy UK, 32 Ufford Street, London, SE1 8QD.
