Yes, Global Adventure Challenges have written up a great training plan for you to follow.
They recommend that your training start several months before the challenge to give you the best chance of enjoying and completing the trek.
The Ben Nevis trek is graded as ‘Challenging’. This means that a good level of fitness is required. You do not need to be a professional athlete or ‘super fit,’ but the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the challenge!
We ask that 80% of your fundraising (£636) be raised by Friday, 6 June 2025. The final 20% of the sponsorship must be sent to the charity no later than four weeks after the challenge date (Friday, 10 October 2025).
Your local community fundraising manager will be in touch after you sign up and will regularly assist with any fundraising queries you may have. They can also provide fundraising materials to help you reach your goal.
Our trek will take place in mid-September (12th-14th). Here are a few reasons why trekking Ben Nevis in September is great:
Milder weather – While the summit itself can be cold, the lower slopes are pleasant compared to the winter months.
Quieter trails – The peak tourist season (July-August) is over, so the trek will be less crowded.
Autumn scenery – The surrounding Highlands will start turning golden and red, making for breathtaking views!
If you are traveling by train or plane, there will be a transfer service on Friday afternoon from Glasgow Central Train Station and Glasgow Airport to the hostel.
- The transfer will leave the train station at 2:15 pm and arrive at the airport at approximately 2:45 pm.
- You will receive more information about the precise locations closer to the event.
You will be dropped off at either Glasgow Central Train Station or Glasgow Airport, depending on your travel plans.
- The transfer will leave the hostel at approximately 10:00 am, arrive at the airport at 1:00 pm, and reach the train station at 1:30 pm.
- Please do not make any onward travel arrangements until after 2:00 pm.
