CB Reid Limited takes on the Jurassic Coast for MDUK

Fourteen employees from Dorchester-based Chartered Accountants, CB Reid Limited, took on 34km of the rugged Jurassic Coast to fundraise for MDUK.

CB Reid Limited were motivated to take on the challenge as Laura Evans, a partner at the firm, and another employee both have family members who are affected by a muscle-wasting condition.

The 34km, completed over 14 May and 15 May, was a huge achievement for the group to fundraise for MDUK. Laura said:

We have chosen to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK because my husband and brother-in-law both have Limb Girdle muscular dystrophy and a colleague and her sons are carriers - so it is a charity close to our hearts,

The team has raised an amazing £3,500 so far which can be used to fund research into treatments and ultimately a cure, or support people who are living with muscular dystrophy.

Whilst muscular dystrophy is a physical condition, it is as much a mental battle too. We are eternally grateful that Paul [Laura's husband] is progressing slowly, however the progressive nature of his disease can be quite cruel,

Whilst Paul would relish the opportunity to go for just a one-mile coastal walk with his family, I also know that he will be overwhelmingly proud of us all for doing this walk.

Charles Horton, Regional Development Manager for MDUK in the South West says,

“We are so thankful of the support of everyone at CB Reid Limited and to their sponsors for the donations received. They have raised a huge amount which will help the charity to continue supporting people affected by muscle wasting conditions in so many ways. 34km is a long way to walk, and particularly given the high temperatures on the South coast over the weekend, but the team managed to complete their challenge successfully and should all feel very proud of what they have done.”
