MDUK Muscles Matter 2021 – Thursday 9 September round-up

Our MDUK Muscles Matter 2021 seminars continued on Thursday 9 September, virtually bringing together people living with muscle-wasting conditions from across the UK with a seminar on Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

To mark World Duchenne Awareness Day 2021 on Tuesday 7 September, we were joined in our Muscles Matter 2021 Duchenne seminar by Professor Jarod Wong and Professor Francesco Muntoni to give an update on progress in research, which covered topics such as bone health, clinical trials and various gene therapies.

We were then joined by Professor Ros Quinlivan who spoke on the Standards of Care in Duchenne and the work of the Adult NorthStar network. This was followed by a discussion and Q&A on living well with Duchenne, featuring Vivek Gohil who lives with the condition, and Nick Emery who is an adult physiotherapist who has worked with people with Duchenne.

You can watch the full recording of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy seminar above or on our YouTube channel.

There will be seminars throughout the year in our MDUK Muscles Matter 2021 online seminar series, including condition-specific sessions, practical sessions such as financial support and psychological care to help you live well, and seminars looking into ways you can manage your condition such as cardiac management or diet and nutrition. You can see the full list and book onto these Zoom seminars here.
