To mark Becker awareness week, we were joined in our BMD seminar by researcher Federica Montanaro, Consultant Cardiologist John Bourke, Consultant Paediatric Neurologist Tracey Willis, Neuromuscular Care Advisor Heather Ryan and Neuromuscular Consultant Stefen Brady.
Federica Montanaro opened up the seminar with an update on recent advances in Becker research, genetic mutations and how working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI experts had aided progress in research.
This was followed by a session on living well where the panelists discussed the topics that regularly come up in clinics, steroid treatments, access to psychological support and females as manifesting carriers of Becker muscular dystrophy.
