With under two weeks to go, stand-up comedian and TV personality Jon Richardson has revealed that he will be joined by Suzi Ruffell, Tim Vine, Matt Forde and Kojo Anim at his upcoming charity comedy night at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. Inspired by his friend, local Aylesbury man Martin Hywood who lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy, Jon and his comedy friends are coming together for one night only in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Jon Richardson reveals star-studded line-up for charity comedy night in Aylesbury
Jon Richardson and Friends in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK is taking place on Friday 11 October 2024 with all profits going to help change the future of muscle wasting conditions.
Jon’s involvement with Muscular Dystrophy UK started several years ago when he met his friend Martin Hywood at a Leeds United football match. Martin, from Aylesbury, lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy, a rare progressive condition which causes his muscles to weaken over time. In addition to raising money through events like this comedy night, Jon has helped to increase awareness by supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK and talking about muscle wasting conditions.
“Martin and I have been mates for years and it’s a pleasure for me to support him and Muscular Dystrophy UK in this way,” said Jon Richardson.
Jon Richardson, who is well-known for his part in ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, the comedy series ‘Meet the Richardsons’, as well as appearances on shows like ‘Have I Got News for You’, will be joined on Friday 11 October by friends Suzi Ruffell, Tim Vine, Matt Forde, and Kojo Anim.
A regular host on Virgin Radio, Suzi Ruffell has had five sell-out runs at the Fringe, a nomination for Best Stand-Up Show in the National Comedy Awards and has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and The Last Leg.
Tim Vine has been a regular on the London comedy circuit since the mid-90s, with sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival as well as acting in five series of the award-winning sitcom ‘Not Going Out’ and performing stand-up worldwide.
Also joining the line-up is leading political comedian and satirist, Matt Forde. Following a month-long run at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer, Matt is touring theatres nationwide from 2 October to March 2025.
Finally, comedian Kojo Anim is joining Jon for this special event. After reaching the finals in Britain’s Got Talent 2019 as Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act, Kojo now resides in Los Angeles and has opened for comedy royalty such as Chris Rock and Kevin Hart.
There are three tiers of tickets available for the Jon Richardson and Friends comedy night, priced from £32.81.
All profits will go to Muscular Dystrophy UK to help us support people living with muscle wasting and weakening conditions and fund groundbreaking research. In addition to the proceeds from ticket sales, there will also be a raffle on the night to raise further funds.
