Over 700 leading members of the commercial property industry attended the 40th anniversary Microscope Ball on Thursday 26 September, raising over £500k to support people living with muscle wasting conditions.
The Microscope Ball 2024 raises record amount

A ‘Relive the 80s’ theme marked the occasion, which brought together 740 members of the commercial property industry at the London Hilton on Park Lane with one common goal – to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
A total of £511,475 was raised, which will help us fund groundbreaking research and life changing support for adults and children across the UK who are living with a muscle wasting and weakening condition.
The 40th anniversary Microscope Ball was hosted by Miss Demeanour and guests enjoyed a three-course meal and entertainment from the Globestar dancers as well as a host of fundraising games and activities.
Guests heard from one of our Trustees, James Lee, and there was a live auction hosted by auctioneer Jonny Gould, as well as an online auction with over 60 lots to bid on. But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the inspirational and heartfelt speech by Louisa Hill, whose son lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The Microscope Ball is the flagship fundraising event for Muscular Dystrophy UK and has raised almost £8 million to date.
“We were blown away by the support in the room at the Microscope Ball 2024. The property industry has been fantastic at supporting us over the years and we really can’t thank them enough for everything they do. From the committee behind the Ball to sponsors and people who come along on the night, it makes such a difference. Fundraising like this enables us to continue providing life changing support for people living with muscle wasting conditions as well as funding groundbreaking research. On behalf of everyone at the charity and in our community, I’d like to say a huge thank you.”
