Our brand NEW podcast now available

27 March 2025

We’re excited to launch our brand new podcast – Muscular Dystrophy UK: Muscles Matter podcast.

A podcast for people living with a muscle wasting and weakening condition, their family and carers. Last year we ran a survey and asked you whether you wanted a podcast, who you’d like to listen to, and what subjects you’d like us to feature, and we got a really great response.

The podcast is informed by insights from you about what you want to listen to – themes that span from health and wellbeing, the latest research, tips and advice on day to day living with a muscle wasting condition, to inspirational stories from our community. We’ll be welcoming lots of interesting guests onto our show from people living with the condition, researchers, healthcare professionals to carers and many more.

Launching our first episode

Our first episode launched on Thursday 26 March hosted by Martin Hywood who works for the charity and lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy along with guests Chloe Docker, 28, who lives with nemaline myopathy and Jed Thirkettle, 25, who lives with Ulrich congenital muscular dystrophy. They have a lively discussion about the top challenges they experience in daily life living with a condition including travel and accessibility, the uncertainty of a changing condition, and relationships.

Happy listening

Our Chief Executive Andy Fletcher said: “The muscle wasting and weakening community are always at the very heart of what we do as a charity. It was important for us to engage with you, listen and take on board your thoughts to help us launch our first ever podcast. We hope you enjoying listening!”

Tune in to the Muscular Dystrophy UK: Muscles Matter podcast on Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Listen Notes, Podcast Addict, Podcast Index, Podchaser, Pocket Casts, Player FM and YouTube.
