‘Reflections in Colour’ book nominated for a prestigious Digital Print Award

15 October 2021

The Kent-based print team, New Perspective Digital Print, will be at the Intercontinental, Park Lane London for the Digital Print Awards 2021 on Thursday 4 November.

Their book, ‘Reflections in Colour’, has been nominated in the Added Value category.

The book celebrates the thoughts and reflections of a number of people from MDUK’s community with profits from the sale of the book coming to the charity. The book features photographs taken by cinematographer Chris Howard. Andrew Robertson, who lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy, gathered and co-ordinated all of the reflections from the community. It’s a unique collection of landscape, photographs, people and perspectives.

This fine art book, which is also published in a smaller version, is an A3 book, created with lay-flat pages. It retails at £300. Traditional hand book-binding and the use of fine (Italian) paper has been combined with state-of-the-art digital print technology, creating a strong vehicle for the stories.

Printed digitally on Hewlett Packard printing presses, this book challenges traditional art printing and uses short run digital technology. All of this has earned it a nomination in the awards’ Added Value category.

Catherine Woodhead, CEO of MDUK, said:

The book is an illustration of friendship and generosity. Cinematographer Chris Howard and Andrew Robertson pooled their skills and networks to create the book, which has been printed with the same outstanding ability. On behalf of MDUK, we would like to congratulate Andrew and Chris on bringing this exhibition and book to life. And we’d like to thank New Perspective Digital Print for producing it to such a professional level. Thank you all for donating proceeds of the book to fund our vital work.
