Cure4Carmela

Carmela enjoys the fast lane such as whizzing down the hills on the back of mummy’s bike and being as active as possible doing fast funfair rides. She is very sociable and is always smiling – pretty much anything excites her! Having said that, there are days she gets upset because she can’t keep up with her friends or she is fed up of falling over.

Carmela managed to keep very busy and active despite the Covid-10 pandemic and took on a high profile 2000km walk challenge over 30 days with her mummy and friends supporting her. Carmela’s favourite superhero is Wonder Woman, who inspires Carmela to keep fighting daily and to stay strong, and so she decided to walk/wheel the distance from her home to Wonder Woman’s home in Italy in the new film ‘Wonder Woman 1984’. The campaign was such a success it even attracted a donation and messages from the film’s star Gal Gadot.

Not to stand still for long, Carmela’s mummy has also written a children’s book called ‘Wonder Girl Carmela and Tinker the Stinker’, which centres on the exciting adventures of Carmela and her therapy dog Tinker. In the book, Tinker the toy poodle uses her special magical powers to whoosh her and Carmela on magical adventures around space.

As a family we want to help Carmela and other children with L-CMD to stay strong and fight for a cure but we need the help of others to make this happen.

Net proceeds from fundraising will be split 80/20% between MDUK's research into LMNA congenital muscular dystrophy and help support Carmela with future welfare needs
