The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half-marathon, taking place in Newcastle on Sunday 7 September 2025.
We need your support to help cheer on runners for #TeamMDUK and to make sure runners and their families have a fantastic experience at our post-race reception.
Please register to volunteer on or before Friday 29 August 2025.
Make a Difference
Your role
Tasks will vary but could include:
- Cheering on runners and ticking them off as they pass the cheer point.
- Taking photos of runners.
- Helping to pack down the cheer point or set up/pack down of the marquee for post-race reception.
- Greeting runners as they arrive at the post-race reception and making them feel like the heroes they are!
- Making teas and coffees at post-race reception.
- Managing the massage system at post-race reception, ensuring everyone who registers gets their well-earned massage.

- A friendly, can-do attitude.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Confidence talking to a range of people.
