WhatsApp Group Moderator
How you will make a difference
Our Whatsapp groups reach people affected by muscle wasting and weakening conditions across the UK and provide a safe space for people to chat to others with similar experience. Our moderators ensure that the groups are a safe, friendly and supportive space led by members of the community.
Why volunteer?:
- Opportunity to become a community leader, providing support to others and signposting them to other avenues of support
- Help us to create warm, friendly and safe spaces for people affected by muscle wasting and weakening conditions to come together online
- Meet like-minded people
What you’ll be doing:
- Making sure that all messages receive a response, welcoming new joiners, posting regularly in the group to keep conversation going
- Creating a friendly and supportive space, and letting people know where they can access support either through our support services or other organisations
- Ensuring safeguarding concerns or breaches of group rules are communicated promptly to Muscular Dystrophy UK staff
- Support Muscular Dystrophy UK staff to publicise groups and to make sure we are providing support in the way that the community wants
You may be chairing an existing group or working with us to set up a new support group. We are always keen to hear your ideas for new support groups that are needed!
