The adult neuromuscular service is led by Dr Mark Busby and is supported by a care advisor and a team of expert allied health professionals.
The service covers all of West Yorkshire, Hull and parts of North Yorkshire. Leeds and Bradford have 2 transition clinics and there are plans for a young adults clinics in Leeds and in Bradford soon. Patients are also able to access specialist respiratory care in Leeds and Hull.
How to access the service
To access the neuromuscular unit a patient can be referred by either a GP, consultant or a care advisor.

Dr Mark Busby
Consultant Neurologist
Dr Mark Busby is the lead clinician neurology consultant and has a special interest in neuromuscular diseases. He studied Neurology research at the University of Oxford, and has been a consultant neurologist since 1999.
Dr Alastair John Lansbury
Consultant Neurologist
Dr Mark Busby Alastair John Lansbury is a consultant neurologist and was a British Heart Foundation Research Fellow between 1995-1997. Doctor Lansbury became a Doctor of Medicine in 2001. His clinical interests include Neurology, Stroke and Headache.
Sue Manning
Care Advisor
Sue supports both adults and children with muscle disease at the Leeds General Infirmary. She also supports children and their families at clinics in Halifax, Hull and Bradford. Sue has worked as a neuromuscular care advisor since 1994. She is an Occupational Therapist and has previously worked in palliative care, children’s services, social care and mental health services.
