CeX raises £200,000 through donations and customer trade-in scheme

21 October 2024

Today, one of our longest-standing corporate partners CeX, the UK’s biggest second-hand electronics and entertainment specialist, announced that they have raised £200,000 for us through donations and their customer trade-in scheme. To coincide with this, they have released a video interview with actor, voiceover artist and our ambassador, Ralph Ineson.

In the video, our Corporate New Business Officer Martin Hywood speaks to Ralph about a range of topics, from video games and technology to some of Ralph’s memories of acting in iconic movies like Star Wars and Harry Potter. They also discuss the CeX charity trade-in scheme; Ralph’s support as an Ambassador of Muscular Dystrophy UK; and how Martin, who lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy, has inspired the actor to become increasingly involved with the charity.

CeX has supported us since 2010. Over the last 14 years, the retailer has raised funds through staff and public donations at points of sale in-store and via their customer trade–in scheme.

 How does it work?

When customers sell their old tech and games to CeX, they are asked if they’d like to donate part, or all, of the amount to charity. There are four charities to choose from, including Muscular Dystrophy UK. If a customer opts to donate 100% of the item’s value, CeX adds a further 10% to increase the charitable donation.

 What next?

Our long-lasting partnership with CeX has also seen the creation of new fundraising challenges arising from our shared interests and values. For example, Game On, which encourages people to host a gaming event to raise money.

The partnership does not stop here. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with CeX and would like to thank them, and all their customers, for their ongoing commitment and support.
