Over 700 members of the commercial property industry attended The Microscope Ball 41st spectacular on Thursday 25 September, raising over £540k to support people living with muscle wasting conditions.
‘The Greatest Show’ theme marked this annual gala occasion, which brought together 740 members of the commercial property industry at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
A total of £544,231 was raised on the night – smashing last year’s record-breaking total of £511,475 – which will help fund life changing support for adults and children across the UK who are living with a muscle wasting and weakening condition.
The 41stMicroscope Ball was hosted by Miss Demeanour and guests were greeted by a variety of incredible circus performers followed by dinner and a powerful performance from vocalist Emma Lindars.
During dinner, guests heard from one of our Trustees, Chloe Docker, and there was a live auction hosted by auctioneer Jonny Gould, as well as an online auction with over 50 lots to bid on. But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the heartfelt speech by Kiera Santry, who spoke about her experiences living with limb girdle muscular dystrophy.
The Microscope Ball is our flagship fundraising event and has raised over £8.5 million to date.
The event also marked the launch of the ‘Property Impact Fund’, celebrating the incredible support – past, present, and future – from the property industry. The money raised from the evening will help us continue to expand our care and support services so more people can get the help they need when they need it.
Cathey Cullum, Special Events Manager said: “Every year, we’re blown away by the support in the room at the Microscope Ball and this year was no exception.
“The property industry has been fantastic at supporting us over the last four decades and we really can’t thank them enough for everything they do. The impact of the Microscope Ball and its committee is extraordinary – raising £1 million between 1983 and 1999, £5 million by 2016, and now over £8.5 million to date following this year’s event.”
“On behalf of the charity and everyone in our community, I’d like to say a huge thank you to all involved – from the committee behind the Ball to sponsors and guests who came along on the night. Fundraising like this makes such a difference, enabling us to continue providing life changing support for people living with muscle wasting conditions.”
