Opening applications for our 2026 Improving Quality of Life research grant scheme

26 May 2026

We’re proud to open applications for our 2026 Improving Quality of Life grant scheme, supporting research that could make a meaningful difference to people living with neuromuscular conditions.

Improving quality of life means more than advancing treatments alone. It’s also about helping people access the support, services, tools and environments that allow them to live well, maintain independence and take part fully in everyday life.

Through this grant scheme, we want to support innovative, practical research projects that respond directly to the needs and priorities of our community. This could include research focused on accessibility, assistive technology, physiotherapy, fatigue, pain management, mental health and psychological support, hydrotherapy, or lifestyle approaches such as exercise and diet.

We know the best research is shaped by the experiences and priorities of our community. That’s why we’re looking to fund projects with a strong focus on lived experience and real-world impact.

We’re offering funding for projects lasting up to 12 months, with two grant streams available offering up to £10,000 and £30,000 respectively to any researchers or healthcare professionals across the UK, including early-career researchers, who are developing independent research careers.

By investing in practical, people-focused research, we hope to help drive forward solutions that improve independence, wellbeing and quality of life for people living with neuromuscular conditions.
